New Laptops to Die For

Laptops have clearly become man’s best companion. It’s become such a reliable ally especially for businessmen and students that developers and manufacturers scramble to come up with new features and models almost every month.

One of the latest laptop models was introduced in the early part of the year, during the Macworld Conference and Expo held last January 15, 2008. The Apple MacBook Air is an ultrathin laptop that boasts of a 13.3-inch widescreen LED display. It has a full-size keyboard and a large trackpad that supports Multi-Touch gestures. It is capable of displaying resolutions up to 1280×800.

The MacBook Air is thin (0.76 inches at its thickest and 0.16 inches at its thinnest) and lightweight (3 lbs). Despite its size, it carries multiple useful features like a Remote Disc program which allows wireless access of another Mac or a Windows PC optical drive. It has 2GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. In addition to this, users are given the option to upgrade to a 64GB solid-state hard drive. It has several ports: USB 2.0, headphone jack, and micro-DVI.

This incredibly thin laptop uses a 1.6GHz or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and comes with an iSight camera and iChat software. Like most Mac laptops, it has a magnetic latch system and an aluminum casing.

Several new features have been incorporated into the Apple MacBook Air to make it friendlier to the environment.

The Sony Vaio AW High Definition laptops are like high-end desktop computers with all the special features one can imagine. With a 2.53GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9400 (that sports a 6MB L2 Cache), the AW series will dazzle users with its colors and picture clarity via the 18.4” LCD that utilizes the proprietary XBRITE-FullHD technology. Its 4GB RAM offers more than enough memory space.

This 8-pound laptop also boasts of NTSC and ATSC TV tuners that allow users to record and watch live television. Movie lovers will find it hard to resist this laptop’s Blu-Ray Disc optical drive, complete with Dolby Home Theater surround sound technology and five built-in speakers. The AW series can accommodate up to 1TB of storage.

Another new laptop model is Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9, which is definitely handy at 2.28 lbs. With advanced connectivity options, it allows the user to go places without sacrificing Internet connectivity. Its features include a 3-in-1 media card reader, customizable user interfaces, a Kensington lock, USB port, Ethernet, and headphone and microphone jacks.
